Must Have Foods For Your
Pantry
When you are hungry
you eat to satisfy your
hunger. When you want to
find food, you look in
your pantry, and if you
have a pantry that is
not well stocked, you
may find yourself
filling up on snacks or
junk foods. You should
always make sure that
your pantry is well
stocked with the
right
foods or you will find
it hard to stay healthy
or lose weight. Let’s
face it; we don’t always
have the willpower to
stay away from the
“bad”
foods, and this can
cause us some trouble!
However, if you are at
home and you get hungry,
you are much more likely
to eat the
right foods
if that is all you have
in your kitchen.
Stock-up on the
good
foods – the foods that
will help you keep
healthy. Here are the
top twenty foods that
you should always have
in your pantry.
Water is the number one
liquid to have around.
It is the only fat-free,
calorie-free all natural
drink in the world, and
water is the single most
healthy thing that you
can drink. If you find
that you are getting
hungry but it is close
to meal time and you
don’t want to ruin your
appetite, drink a glass
or two of water. It will
satisfy the hunger pangs
until it is time to eat.
Milk is another good
drink to have on hand.
Especially if it is milk
that has a low fat
content. Milk is a
natural calcium
supplement and it is
recommended for at least
one glass per day to
stay healthy. Of course,
you cannot mention milk
without adding cereal,
and cereal is also on
the top twenty list. It
makes a great fast
breakfast in the
morning, and it can also
be a healthy and filling
morning or afternoon
snack. Other drinks to
have in your pantry are
healthy fruit drinks, or
even some soda or beer
for a treat every now
and then. People are
usually more able to
stay on a healthy track
if they allow themselves
to have a treat once in
a while.
The fifth item that is
good to have in your
pantry is eggs. These
are almost always needed
for baking and cooking,
and they make a healthy,
protein-rich breakfast.
Add on bread and fruit,
other foods to make the
list, and you’ve got a
filling and nourishing
morning meal. Bread is
good to have around, but
make sure you buy it at
a local bakery instead
of your grocery store.
Bread that comes from a
grocery store is full of
preservatives, and you
are guaranteed to have a
fresh loaf every time at
a bakery. Also,
fruit is
one of the best snack
foods in the world. They
have natural sugars, a
sweet taste and are
healthy for you. Lemons
are a good fruit to have
because they are a must
for seafood and they can
make a refreshing glass
of lemonade. Even canned
fruits (or canned
veggies!) should be in
your pantry. They are
still a great snack or
meal addition, and they
will last a long time.
Two other good snack
foods that are also
excellent improvements
to any meal are carrots
and cheese. Carrots,
when coupled with some
low-fat dip will win
over a deep-fried snack
any day, and cheese can
give a meal that added
“something” to make it a
culinary delight. Cheese
is great as a snack on
its own or with crackers
or celery. Another dairy
food on the list is
yogurt. Yogurt is a good
food to have because it
can be used for all
kinds of smoothies,
shakes and other drinks,
and it can be cooled
with chicken. It is also
a great snack on its
own. Butter and peanut
butter are also in the
top twenty foods. Butter
is useful because it is
needed in most making
and cooking recipes, and
most people will not
have their toast without
it! Peanut butter is
great because it
provides the body with
protein and it isn’t
high in fat. It can also
be a good substitute for
butter or margarine on
your toast once in a
while.
Other foods on the list
are mayonnaise, mustard,
ginger and herbs and
spices. Mayo and mustard
are great on sandwiches,
and mayo is a necessity
for salads. Fresh ginger
doesn’t have any
preservatives, but it
will keep fresh for a
long time, and it can
make almost any food
taste better. Other
herbs and spices can be
bought in bulk, and they
also keep for a long
time. Rice and pasta are
the last foods on the
list, and they are
either fast and easy
meals, or meal add-ons.
