With preservatives,
growth hormones and
additives, the list of
“bad” foods being
consumed today is
growing at a rapid rate.
The media and the food
companies are constantly
bombarding us with the
message that we “need”
certain foods, or that
we can’t eat our food
without that certain
seasoning. It is true
that some seasoning can
make a meal taste better
and certain foods taste
really good, but just
because it tastes good
doesn’t mean it is
healthy for you. In fact
you should be very
careful to watch what
you eat, as more and
more people are dying of
heart disease. Heart
disease has never been a
discriminator of
persons, and it strikes
anybody it wants to. In
this article we will
discuss some of these
“bad” foods and why they
are labeled as bad for
you.
The first two foods that
are bad for you are
solid oils and
hydrogenated palm oils.
Solid oils are oils like
Crisco and other
shortening. A lot of
people actually think
that they are making
healthier choices when
they cook with these
oils. The fact is, it is
healthier to use lard.
The hydrogenated palm
oils are not safe
either. In fact, these
oils are basically a
heart attack waiting to
happen. Another food
that can be called a
heart attack waiting to
happen is any food that
is deep fried. A lot of
people have given up
deep drying their foods
– most of the time.
However, they really
need to stop deep frying
their food all of the
time. Deep fried foods
have been linked to
cancer, and this disease
currently has no cure.
The next food that has
been labeled as bad is
refined and store bought
flour. This stuff has
been bleached and more.
When food is bleached
all of the “good” things
are stripped away and
all that is left is the
bad. Whole wheat flour
is much better for you.
Another white food that
isn’t so good for you is
white rice. A lot of
people don’t like eating
brown rice, but it is
better for you.
Sugar is also on the
list, and this is a food
that everyone knows is
not good for you. Too
many foods have more
than enough sugar, so
consider your choices
carefully. A little is
okay, but make sure not
to overdo it. Another
bad thing about sugar is
that it is a cause of
high cholesterol. One
more food that aids high
cholesterol is processed
meats. These are all
high in fat and salt,
and can be justly called
a heart attack in a can.
The last three bad foods
on the list are all
completely loaded with
salt. These foods are
canned soups, Alfredo
sauces and lunchables.
While there are some
canned soups that are
lower in salt, there
aren’t any Alfredo
sauces or lunchables out
there with low salt.
Lunchables in particular
are the worst out of
these three foods. Do
not give your children
lunchables to eat. There
are many more fun foods
for children, so you can
eliminate lunchables
with no problem at all.
